Subwoofer S 8000 SW THX Ultra 2 (2010)
We gave the THX engineers a bit of a shock with the S 8000 SW: they'd never seen another manufacturer meet their stringent THX Ultra 2 standards using a single 300 mm chassis and an enclosure this small (80 litres). Teufel pulled it off: a level of 114 dB at 40 Hz with a linearity of +- 1 dB.
This subwoofer is an absolute triumph of Teufel's engineering expertise, painstakingly gathered over twenty years of building specialised deep bass woofers.
The unbelievable performance of the S 8000 SW can be attributed to a bass driver developed over many steps and featuring an extremely long throw with THX Ultra 2-required magnetic screening.
A very low level of harmonic distortion and extreme efficiency contribute to high levels being rendered distortion-free at 500 watts of RMS output. In the past, a significantly higher level of amplification would have been required. And there's a side effect: you'll save on your electricity bill.
The Teufel-developed DPU reflex system with bass reflex openings on the back virtually eliminates interference even at high volumes. A remote control makes adjusting the subwoofer to match any sized space easy – the system can handle up to 100 square metres.
